Welcome to the Bronze Foundry
As the Master Founder working in the foundry at Kentwell Hall, Long Melford, Suffolk, UK during the summer of 2006, I have put up this web site to show you a little of the history behind this Tudor foundry. Following the links on the left you may also find how to cast metals in your back garden, shed or garage.
The main Tudor re-enactment takes place between 17th June and 9th July 2006. During these three weeks the entire manor undergoes a
time shift reverting to Tudor England. On the manor you can expect to see many aspects of Tudor life
including the fully functioning bronze foundry. The transformation is so complete that when Dr. Who turned up in his Tardis one year it took
him 3 days to work out that his date indicator wasn't actually faulty!
There is very little information on the internet for those that wish to do foundry work on a small scale in the UK. Hunting around you will almost certainly find information for foundry work in the USA but when you are trying to locate a local source of materials or a foundry you can visit and you happen to live in England then American sites won't help much. To that end, where possible, we reference UK based suppliers, information etc.
